Prayer  ~~  "Come Spirit of Love!  

Come that as a result of our CONVERSION 
AND 
COMMUNION, 
a complete unity of all the peoples 
on this great CONTINENT OF AMERICA 
may take place!

That beginning with 
The CHURCH IN AMERICA  
a 
SOLIDARITY, 
never before seen 
on the face of this earth, 
may result!

 

 

Discrimination against indigenous peoples and Americans of African descent

    
Our Lady, THE WOMAN CLOTHED WITH THE SUN AND THE MOON UNDER HER FEET 
came as 
THE MOTHER OF ALL PEOPLES!

WE MUST ASK OURSELVES THIS VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION

How  can we be 
true representatives 
of 
Christ's Love  
if we treat others 
with less than  
 the  
Love of Christ?

In order for the 
CHURCH IN AMERICA 
to be faithful to the Gospel of Christ,

 

and walk 
as a 
totally 
united people, 

as true representatives 
of 
Christ's Love,

Pope John Paul II feels
that we must pay special attention to ethnic groups who are
 
still being
discriminated against

in AMERICA. 

In regards to the

indigenous people,


we must begin to respect their "..territories, and pacts made with them;

likewise, efforts must be made to satisfy their legitimate 
social, 
health 
 

and

cultural requirements."
He reminds us, still in some places
Americans of African descent,   

continue to suffer from prejudice. 

prejudging  our brothers and sisters in Christ, in a negative way, may in reality prove to be a serious obstacle to their encounter with the living Jesus Christ.

Pope John Paul II and the American Bishops gently remind us that 

 regardless of their race or circumstances in life,  

all people have been created by God 
in 

His image 
and 
likeness!!!

He recommends that we take the time to join together in common prayer in order to try to begin to understand and 
reconcile 
 any differences that may exist, 

the ultimate goal being building bridges of 
Christian love, peace and justice 
among all men and women.

In regards to the Church itself, the Holy Father strongly believes it is essential to train competent pastoral workers especially by providing a enough pastors to work with these native peoples.  

That is why he feels that it is extremely important to promote priestly 

and religious vocations from within the ethnic groups themselves.
